I do see your point. It'd be nice if the clutter actually functioned. I don't mind though because I like my Sim to be happy in their house and if that means it being beautifully decorated with as much stuff as possible then so be it. But at the same time especially certain items would be cool if they actually worked instead of just for decoration purposes.
Wow...I actually forgot that "well decorated" houses make the sims happy, lol. I almost always use a mod to nix that (to change happy buffs from environment to fine), cause I got so tired of all of my sims being ecstatically happy all the time just cause they have a nice couch or something. It just felt so shallow and completely erased the impact of all negative emotions from the game. I mean, it's so easy to make money in the game so all my sims end up with swanky houses before to long, which with the "nice decor" moddlets literally just makes them generically happy
all of the time. So for me, that's even
more of an argument against having a lot of clutter and random decor--if some decoration or object in the house makes the sim happy, imo, it better be
really freakin' special decor, y'know? Like, it would make more sense if, say, a masterpiece quality painting did that, rather than some random statue you can just buy in build mode.
