Who nerfed kitchen fires and when did this happen?

Risky events just don't happen in the game, its all rainbows and sparkles cause nothing bad ever happens with your sims or in your sims lives. That's why I'm hoping someday sims will get out of the teen rating and go for more of a mature, darker feel yet still have its silly sim humor. I want funny, strange, sad, happy, and surprising moments in the game..not the sim version of Candyland.
