I did research the game prior to pre-ordering it. Emotional deaths were talked about. While I found it slightly concerning, it is possible in reality to laugh oneself to death, in the form of a resulting heart-attack. I don't like how softened this game has become over the past two iterations. Very little can actually threaten the life of a Sim.
I have yet to lose a single Sim from an emotional death. I have to admit, should it happen I may not like it much, depending on who and when it strikes, but I also don't like how Sims can't be killed after being struck by lightning. It should be more of a percentage thing. Not everyone in RL who gets struck by lightning will die, but then some do.
Based on your posts here on the forum I don’t think you will. Mine happened because she was denied from a proposal twice. She left behind two kids :(. Totally exited without saving.
You're probably correct in your assessment. But, I do like the challenge of keeping my Sims alive. There's a certain edginess added to the game when you know your precious Sims are at risk. ;)
After it happened with my girl, I then spent the next few games getting her ghost reinvited into the family before sending her to a public lot with a wishing well on it. It was the easiest way to get her back.
