I have to totally agree on that. All the traits that come with packs seem to be just ways to enhance skill development and the aspirations are just step by step instructions on how to experience the pack.
Personally I never use the aspirations from the packs and I wish they actually made some that have a purpose, seem believable as an actual wish a Sim wants to fulfill.
I don't know why they are doing this since a lot of personality traits came with the base game and there are basically a million things they could do.
If the Sims 4 is lacking something it is definitely Sims with personalities. Hopefully this will change with Sims 5
