It is considered a simulation game for a reason, so if people are trying to escape the issues in their lives then the Sims is really not the place. Yes, that's true (but not all the players have Nintendo consoles in order to play these games).
While yes, they can go and look for something else that is more cheerful than The Sims are, they may be playing The Sims because of the way they can customize the sims and houses and how their sim develops and by other gameplay.
Yes, some players may be sensitive, but you have been near to a sensitive person before, even through it might have been a stranger. Yes, nobody likes to see a person throwing tantrums, crying and complaining, but (almost) everybody has to admit they have done something just because they felt too down or was too angry, especially when they were a child.
