Why Are My Sims Such Nimrods?

I will admit that one of the hardest methods of game-play has to do with teens. Currently, I have four under one roof. It's a very bad thing when they come home in various states of teen angst. The only girl in the mix is the youngest of the four and she's got that whole leaning back movement going on. Her favorite brother, the second one in the family was busy scribbling furiously in his private journal to help ease the pain of his mood swing. He's inexplicably angry. The moment he finishes his written rant, he leaves the journal on the desk. I have him 'put in inventory', but before he can grab it, guess who slumps through the room deciding to 'clean up'? Yep, that only sister. She's on a mission to put it away. :O This she decided all by her little pixalated self. And, before you ask or assume, no, she doesn't bear the 'Neat' trait. She's just responsible.

I had to send the other two boys to take a bubble bath to help ease their moods and raise their fun levels. All five children (the youngest another boy is a Child) have projects to complete besides their nightly homework. What is a player to do?

Second son is a promising singer, too. His fame level is snuggling very close to that first star. How am I to take him out and gain said star if he's in such a funk? Let alone having a project and homework. Oi!

Why are my Sims such Nimrods, at times? LOL

Please do share your crazy moments of frustration with your Sims.

  • Ah, teen angst. While I do find the mood swings as a player annoying, I also find great joy in them as a storyteller, because that's so very typical of a teenager. There emotions are wildly out of control. It keeps me on my toes. I do find it incredibly irksome that people will put journals in the bookshelf if I'm not vigilante about keeping track of them. Also wish my teens could keep their journal on them without the possibility of them leaving it lying around on a community lot for anyone to read. It's got the same problem as the homework. When you play rotationally as I do and teens have a journal on them, they're likely to start writing in it and then leave it on the table. You'd think they'd want to protect that better lol. I remember being that age though and I must admit I left that kind of stuff lying around where I shouldn't have. *shrugs* Sometimes you're just forgetful.

I had his sister snoop in the journal. At first she had the marionette in her thought bubble and then she nearly burst into tears — over what, who knows? LOL I did more crying than anything else, as a teen. And after all of these decades, I really haven't change in that aspect. :open_mouth:
  • In my Legacy game.. several of the different generations keep a diary / journal .. but instead of keeping it in their inventory.. or out laying around, and getting lost .. they all just placed them under the mattress.. and as they grew up and moved out.. their diary was place under the mattress for good in the kids sleeping room.. lol, under this one bed, is like 5 or 6 diaries.
  • I don't have so much experience with teens, but i should soon as my sim child is about to age up. But as I started with 3 sisters, young adults and i created a plan how I want their stories to be, I was ready to marry off one of the sisters and move her out. So, as for me it is more realistic a man proposing a woman, I went through the manage world and was excited her boyfriend to propose her. They had a wonderful date and everything worked well. They were best friends too. And then this very romantic moment arrived...he got on his knees and asked her to be by his side forever, but she rejected him!! Omg i was not expecting it at all... so i tried next sim day again and once again she rejected him. She has no traits to do so, but she sure has some character to surprise me. So i thought fine, she doesn't want to get married to that man. They broke up and she started to date another man. All was good until this man proposed her. She rejected again...and again...and again.....So at the end I made her propose a vampire as a punishment ?. This vampire didnt reject her... so now she will get married to a vampire.

Back when I was playing Pinstar's Legacy Challenge, My Gen. 9 heir couldn't get his girlfriend to marry him either. It was a rather startling moment when she actually slapped the ring out of his hand! They finally did tie the knot, after she gave birth to Gen. 10, which ended the Challenge. But, yeah, the rejection can be brutal. I love how you 'punished' her, though. I had an errant Sim in Sims3 whose punishment landed her in the Bin. Forever. She's still there. ;)
