Why aren't my cheats working?

Am I losing it!? These aren't working again. modifyrelationship John Doe Jane Doe 50 LTR_Friendship_Main worked for a few plays and now it's not working again. Should I be putting testingcheats on in while I'm on the lot of before?

You probably already are doing this ,but you need to enter the cheat twice, once each for the target sim and the selected sim.
This means, that the first time you would type in John Doe Jane Doe and the second time Jane Doe John Doe.

I never typed "true" but always "on" when typing cheats. It always worked, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

You probably already are doing this ,but you need to enter the cheat twice, once each for the target sim and the selected sim.
This means, that the first time you would type in John Doe Jane Doe and the second time Jane Doe John Doe.

What If I'm doing it on an NPC? Shouldn't I at least see it change for the sim I'm targeting first?

You need to do it both ways, then see if the friendship levels change.
