Why can't sims make beds anymore?

I can't say I really miss being able to make beds. I mean.... I never make my own bed, why do I want to make my sims make their beds? And this conversation has really brought into light was a strange looking saying it is.... making a bed. The more I look at it the more it just looks wrong.
But in any case... in my sims 3 game I had a neat sim and unmade beds always brought down his mood and he was literally the only one in the household that ever made beds. So not having to send him around to make all the beds in the house, for me at least, is a good thing. It's bad enough he has to clean up all the dishes, clean the benches, the plumbing and the mopping since noone else will do it.... the poor guy.
