Why Can't We Place The Small Cabinets Where We Want, While Using The Cheats That Should Let You?

You all know those small half counters, that also have small cabinets to go with them, well why is it we can place all other cabinets in any place, any grid square, but NOT those little cabinets? I mean I have BB.Moveobjects on and hold down Alt, but though it works with all the normal sized cabinets, it doesn't work for the smaller ones that go with the half size counters!

They're pretty much the only items that can't be moved and placed where you want them, while using the cheats, other then the obvious ones!

It seems to just be that nothing works on it, now I understand that with some items, like coffee pots, tea pot, laptops, to name a few, they have to be in a certain place to be used, so they can only go in a few places! But we can't use cabinets anyway, so why make it where no matter what we do we can't put these little cabinets where we want them or even where they are supposed to be sometimes?

I mean I a lot of times I want to use the half counters, but I like to put the smaller cabinets with them too, not the normal size ones, since they don't look right that way! But it's even hard to place these little cabinets period, because they will only go a certain way, no matter what! But as I said, sometimes they don't even want to go where Maxis meant for them to go, apparently!

So I went Googling to see if there was some cheat to put into the cheat bar, that would stop objects from snapping to the grid, period, but I couldn't find anything! Unless I'm just missing something!

Which is why I posted this here, also posted it here because we can't even use help here for anything anymore, not even for a simple problem like this!

I was just hoping maybe someone knew a trick I hadn't heard of! I frankly think this shouldn't even be a thing in the first place, since we can pretty much place the normal size cabinets anywhere, with BB.MOVEOBJECT ON and the Alt button, but for some silly reason they made it so we can't do the same with these smaller cabinets, it's so frustrating!

  • I believe they are referring to the ceiling cabinets that can go above the counters.

As an example, I could not put another cabinet at the edge(I could not move the existing one to the edge either). Though that is most likely because of the other side has a door, but I also couldn't put another full cabinet there either. It's weird.
  • I have trouble placing the outer corner cabinets. The half ones work fine but the outer corner ones are nearly impossible to place against a flat wall.
  • Not sure if you are referring to the shorter or narrower cabinets, but I’m able to place them anywhere I want after enabling bb.move objects on and holding down the Alt key.

  • @pookysimslover Please post a visual example of what you mean. There are many people here, including myself, who would be happy to help. :)

I assume the ones you may be talking about are for outer wall corners. Its hard to explain. They fit around corners not in them if that makes sense.
    Though I am probably wrong.

I noticed too that they don't seem to be able to be placed in corners.
  • The cabinets have some confusing snap-to behavior, since they can be either attached to a wall or to a ceiling.
They also conflict both with obstacles on the wall and obstacles on the ceiling.
They can't be placed by doors, hanging lights, etc. unless you enable bb.moveobjects.
I find the snapping annoying, just as with curtains. But the alt-place (option-place for me on a Mac) makes it easier.
Another trick you can try is to place the cabinet first, using the floor grid as a guide, then adding the wall after. So it only has the option of snapping to the ceiling and not the wall, when you're trying to place it. This is like that trick with the curtains, where you put the curtain up first then add the window after, so it isn't trying to snap to both the wall and the window.
