Why Do They Do That?

My Sim just went outside to eat their meal beside a bush and flowers and I thought at first, how nice, they wanted to enjoy the scenery while eating, until after they finished they put the plate down in the bushes/flower patch and went back in the house and I had to go in BB to move the flowers to find the plate. They just threw their dirty plate in the flower patch instead of washing it :confounded:

I have had sims clean up the dishes of spoiled food in the spice district food stalls, then later on at home leave their dishes in the bookcase. Go figure.

yeah the sims enjoy eating in strange places lately and my goths surely have jumped on the trend

first they all gathered to eat in cassandras room in second floor

then i locked her room in hopes they'll go to dining room but no then I had them go to mortimers study (also in second floor)

fair enough I locked that too

then one day while bella and mortimer were woohooing cassandra awkwardly enough decided to have her meal on the seat in their bedroom... (also in second floor) yes that was locked after that incident :sweat_smile:

then they decided they want scenery so they started going outdoors to eat

benches and seance table were used regardless of thunderstorms and blizzards...

but why won't they just use their perfectly awesome dining room that routes all fine?
I have no idea

sometimes they also eat in living room or entrance hall

but I assume most of these were sims routing to where other sims are since most of the time if i make sure one sim sits at dining table others do too

but i found the outdoor ones curious as there is no reason they should prefer that there is no one sitting there

@Simmingal I also lock the bedroom doors only for those Sims so guests won't go in there. If I set the table they are pretty good at sitting down, but lately if I forget to do that I find them standing in the backyard eating alone, which looks so sad lol, but yeah why are they doing that? This Sim even walked past the patio table and the bench to stand at the far part of the yard :confused:

I find that if the table is set my sims will sit at the table to eat. But when the placemats are gone the wandering begins.

I'm seeing a lot of sims walking through walls lately. Its like they MUST find the most narrow place to walk by something, like another sim, instead of walking where there is more room. They keep walking through furniture and stuff too.

For eating, I never set the table. I've been so fed up of them wasting time. I ask them to grab leftovers then go watch cooking show (unless its maxed, then they can do whatever). So they got the food, then sat down at the dining table, then grabbed their meal, walked over to the sofa to turn on the telly. I wanted to get rid of that middle "station", so now I have the dining table placed at the back of the sofa, with the chairs facing the tv. Or I just sell off the dining table alltogether. If they're being dumb, they can't have nice stuff, even though it feels like I'm punishing my little people for something they can't help doing.

Some times they will go sit on a bed to eat, if another sim is in that room. I just can't get rid of their beds as well. Its more a problem in larger houses, of course.

Some mod that I use actually flips this problem on it's head. My sims are so determined to always eat at a table that they will cross the entire lot and go down (or up) several flights of stairs in order to get to a table. I can direct them to sit anywhere else that I want them to eat once they reach the table...but when I first queue the action for them to eat, they are going to go for a table...no matter how far away it is.

I actually get annoyed by this. I often want them to just sit at the chair that's right next to them when I tell them to eat. Sadly, I'm not even sure which mod I use that causes this. :lol: Fortunately they do at least pick the closest table, but even then...sometimes that's much farther away then I would like.

My sims recently seem to enjoy picking up the trash piles after fixing an appliance, carrying the trash bag almost all the way to the trashcan, until they are literally about two steps away from the trashcan, and then dropping it on the ground. And then complaining that there is trash on the ground.

I think they do this just to mess with me.

My sims constantly walk through walls. I play with walls down most of the time so I'm not bothered. I'd be more bothered if they got stuck and waved at me that the route was blocked. I don't understand why they won't eat at a table. I've come to a point where I don't even bother with a dining area. Half the time they eat while using the bathroom due to the cue. They also brush their teeth while eating because this makes sense.

@GalacticGal If you're referring to clipping through stuff or a wall, that was a patch to prevent Sims from getting stuck all the time.
