Why does everybody hate the idea of multiplayer in TS5?

I don't think EA have said what they intend to do to make it multiplayer?

I'd hear their idea out of course, but to a large extent what makes the sims fun for me doesn't make sense - or even work - in a multiplayer situation. Mods for example are a big part of how I play. Customising the game with cc objects/clothes and using script mods to make it behave how I want. Multiplayer would limit or rule out a lot of these options.

We're not completely isolated in our current game play though - I love the gallery.
