Why does everybody hate the idea of multiplayer in TS5?

It's not a big deal to me as long as it's optional. I will not play with others but if some want multiplayer they should have it. (you can mod it now) I personally don't know any other people in my real life, outside of my family, who play games. I do not want my co-workers to know that I play. When I was younger I did have a lot of fun playing TSO though. Now I am older and I use The Sims to escape from my professional job and I avoid online games with a passion.
