If they go the MMO route it absolutely will be microtransaction hell, I mean just look at SWTOR (which I love btw) but in order to change the color or "dye" your clothes costs real world money in the form of "Cartel Coins". So a Sim's variation would be essentially;
"want that shirt in green - ten dollars!" so yes I hope Maxis avoids making TS5 an MMO at all costs.
