Why doesn't my cat lover love the cat?

I have a famous sim who is too busy to take care of a pet herself so I had the neighbors get a cat and I figured I'd just invite the famous sim over (she's over about every day anyway wanting food...no idea why since she's also a 5-star chef herself...go figure) but she hasn't even noticed the kitten once even when it races right past her or meows directly at her. I know she is thinking about cats cause you can see the cat hugs in her thought balloons. But it's strange she doesn't even see the cat right in front of her. I may switch households and then play her and send her over to see if she can see the kitten that way.
