I've been playing rotationally and have one family that is rather large (6 sims : parents, the wife's brother who currently lives with them and the three kids) and not rich enough for the number of people, so their house only has the bare minimum. As I was playing them, I was focused on getting the mom to do some work tasks and ensuring the kids' play date with neighbors went well. Suddenly, I notice dad and uncle are laughing a lot. They teased each other and joked so much that they were both hysterical. I managed to save the dad, but uncle didn't make it. He'd been working on the ghost historian aspiration. I guess he decided to become a true ghost to better understand? Couldn't wait for me to send him to the magic pool in Ravenwood? Now my moody, serious author sim is a silly ghost.
(Then again, it's not much better when I control them. I somehow thought teenage mood swings would disappear upon aging up and celebrated a mortified teenager's birthday. He died of embarrassment almost immediately after as I couldn't find a way to reduce it enough. That was the same family, and I've never had an unplanned emotional death before. I'm starting to think they are cursed. XD)
LOL Serra! Unexpected deaths are honestly some of the funniest moments in the game, in my opinion.
Once, in my game, a Sim died of old age right outside a gym… in the middle of winter. Of course, a bunch of Sims who were working out inside ran outside to cry next to the body (still wearing their gym clothes) while it was freezing cold! By the time the Grim Reaper finished dealing with the poor Sim’s soul, the others were already starting to freeze to death one by one…
Then a new wave of curious Sims came out of the gym to see what was going on in the backyard… also in shorts and T-shirts. You can probably guess what happened next 😄
At first I was yelling at my computer, trying to get them back inside. But then I realized how ridiculously funny the whole situation was and just enjoyed the chaos. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard while playing The Sims!
