EA is aware of the problem and currently looking into it. Bug report here:

Good to know, thanks. It may have seemed like an overreaction on my part, but after what they did with vampires, then putting Star Wars in the game my trust in EA is almost non existent. I mean, could you image how Star Wars gamer fans would react if they put The Sims in a Star Wars game. Ha... :s
Hopefully they get their launcher sorted. :)
Star Wars stuff in the game has not bothered me. The costumes were free, and you have a choice if you want to buy Batuu or not. I would however like for them to make a costume category like they did for hot and cold weather.
What did they do to vampires?

Nerfed it to death. That would be my guess.
Yeah, they nerfed them into oblivion. No more vampire attacks and no more invites to become one either. You get the ONE possible vampire attack from Straud, then that's it.
They will do household chores if you invite them in though so, we got that going for us :D
I see the Vatores, they often become family friends, but I rarely see Straud or get the phone calls - and forget actual attacks, I think I've had one since the GP was released lol.
i think all the sims in the house might have to be asleep and it has to be night
I only ever really get Vladdy visit when I am playing 1-2 sims
other vamps do stalk by but i think you have to invite them in first and even so it really seems to be their last resort to drink your sims
as for the ea app idk I haven't attempted going in game yesterday/today since i been up to other things (it is rather curious how i seem to dodge these ea app nonsense by sheer luck should i buy lottery ticket)
I hope its fixed soon though and i will not attempt to boot my app if its giving people such errors
