I still think the "real snow" is reserved for an upcoming Winter Vacation GP
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they added it in for a Vacation pack, because you usually have extreme weather like 40 degree heat or -10 degree cold weather with big snow depth when on holiday abroad. Where I live, we barely get any snow and usually it’s flat like in this Seasons pack lol - It's like one of the most important parts of this expansion.
People, don't say that we should be happy cause they're releasing Seasons pack.
How could you feel that it's winter if there's no real feel like it's snow.
Even The Sims 2 had much deeper snow and it was just beautiful.
I'll never understand how people can like this what we're getting in The Sims 4. Sims just float on snow in The Sims 4. Where's magic?
I'm just waiting for some explanation.
But I can say now that they're going to say that the game engine can't handle it or that they decided to add some more gameplay instead of that.
Seriously?
It might be simple for you, but I'm really not going to buy a pack, cause for me of the best parts in the pack is completely ruined .
If this is how it's going to be then they should just end The Sims 4. This series has a lot of limitations. We'll never have cars, we cannot build our own apartments. I understood that. But I'll never understand why they can't make a thick snow. - SimsTime7 years agoSeasoned Ace

And do you know how much time that would take to implement???? Game development is not simple as adding a simple graphic button and done, it works, you have a lot more to work on, coding, programming, testing every single DLC (this probably isn’t true but I’m talking generally here) to make sure none of them break the game and make it unplayable.
Also can you seriously stop overreacting, that “I’m so disappointed my god” literally to me sounds like you’re just attention seeking... No offence, but I hate it when people complain and they literally just sound like their life depends on this one minor feature that doesn’t affect the game in any way apart from immersing the player.
I can understand people want this feature, but the way people are complaining is as let’s say if you were to put snow depth into a pack with nothing else that’s the best thing Maxis has ever done and that the player’s life depends on snow depth.... It’s so crazy lol
With all due respect, even if my life depended on it, you have nothing to do with it, with what I do, or do not do. So let's do it like this: you take care of your life, I take care of mine, and that's it ... Everyone knows their own motivations for wanting something.
And you touched on an interesting point about the development of the game. In fact, things take time to be made, and it is peculiar that this expansion was announced earlier than normal, and more, it was announced only 30 days for its launch. I'd rather it took them longer to advertise and snow in depth than to advertise early and not have. "Sk8rblaze;c-16493518" wrote:
Seasons is more than just seasons. This is, traditionally, a pack that sets out to achieve plenty of things, and one of those things is push the game to its limit with impressive weather effects. A lot of people buy the pack for this reason alone.
The snow doesn’t seem impressive. If the trailer didn’t show the true capabilities of this pack, then the trailer simply failed at doing the pack justice. Judging from the trailer, screenshots, etc. the snow effects look rushed and lazy, and are reverting us back to TS4’s repeated instances of failing to improve upon not only The Sims 3, but The Sims 2, too. I saw this screenshot, and it’s very telling.

If you look at the photos most of them are taken shot during a heavy snowfall. We still haven't had have any information regarding heavy snowfall(I am talking referring to raining with snow I don't know if its snowfall since its not my language). Maybe this is was when the snow was over and the winter is finally coming to an end. They still haven't shown any details about each seasons, so we might not get information until next week or at EA Play, they might even talk about one season per week, kinda like in the previous EP's where in GTW, Each career has their own week, in GT Clubs, Skills, Worlds have their own week etc. We just have to wait.- I made a video talking about my concerns with the snow >///< https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CguOSi906IA&t=5s
I'm kind of scared going on tumblr now because most of the community there hates on people complaining about the snow ;__; - rjssim7 years agoSeasoned AceWell, I can understand why people are upset about the snow issues. To me, Seasons is about atmosphere. So, having the visuals is definitely important in an expansion like this. At the same time though, as others have said we don't know the full details yet. I also want the visuals and the snow depth etc like many others. Heck, winter is my favorite season of the year, and it's why I am mostly excited for this expansion! If it doesn't happen in the expansion, maybe it will happen in an update or a game pack. I am still happy that this coming out, and I will be pre-ordering Seasons in a few days. It will still give us much more atmosphere even if the snow issues indeed are in the expansion. The Sims team seem like really great people, and they listen to their fans. We got toddlers, pools, etc in updates. They are listening, and I am confident that they will do everything they can to make us happy and support their gem, The Sims 4!
- Why in every expansion pack something must be done wrong. In Get To Work own bussiness is simplified, Get Togheter all is one big misunderstanding without gameplay, City Life has elevator without animation and we can't build own apartaments. In Cats and Dogs there are not small animals and horses. In Seasons... We have no snow, only white texture. I like TS4 but i have no more patients for simplifications in this game :( I still hope, that in final version of EP snow will be snow.
- There DO is some snow elevation, as seen here next to the foundation:

These snow piles will probably work similar to the leaf piles. - Eik4si47 years agoNew Ace

I think the snow piles are the exact contrary from the leaf piles. Sims create leaf piles by raking the ground.
Whereas the snow piles are already there so that the sims can shovel them. Otherwise there would be nothing to shovel at all.
I don't know how those snow piles appear but they may just spawn randomly when it snows, which would be disappointing. Hopefully they appear in a more subtle way. Probably not by accumulating though, but I could be wrong.

Hello!
I'm closing the discussion now as we can't seem to keep it civil and respectful towards each other. Let's keep the name-calling and judgments of other Simmers out of our chatter in the future, thanks.
