I think CC makers make what they want to see in the game mostly... they don't have to try to make things that don't appeal to them.
I don't use cc now but went through a time when I did and mostly focused on male clothing because the options in game were better for females. I also hated all the short, tight pants for men and wanted more traditional options for the older gents. There were some really good male clothing cc makers out there when I was looking.. but not many of them. It did seem mostly that male cc makers were male or at least presented that way.
Everyone likes to be appreciated when you find a good cc maker you like let them know you appreciate their work. It helps keep them engaged.
