Why isn't my sim doing her homework?

It's just sitting in her inventory and it's been a week and she hasn't done any yet. Her school performance is suffering. Why can't I click on it and make her do it? Shouldn't she be doing it automatically after school?

Okay problem solved, thanks to Netzspannung. She was in fact still holding her grade school homework in her inventory.
So I purchased the correct one through the bookcase and she's finally doing her homework. Thanks!
And thanks to everyone else to for commenting and having interest in my problem.

Glad you figured it out :)

Mine didn't do homework herself until she got A's. Now she does homework AND extra credit on her own haha.
