Why my game saved without my permission?!

the new save system ruined my game, if I quit without saving it shouldn't save! some things happened that I don't want to save! the new auto save in terrible!
the game lagged when I tried to propose so I didn't get to see the moment, when I went to manage worlds WITHOUT saving BAM everthing is saved.. this just suck to be honest..the game shouldn't force you to save
now I broke them up so I can properly enjoy them proposing but they seem them impossible to like each other now..great..thanks EA for the lag and this..

  • Auto Save isn't new, it's always been there since the beginning, and it saves exactly when you don't want it to. and doesn't save when you want it to.

Like you said When you want to undo something in a save and it auto saved.
    Or
Like I was trying to build a castle the other day, and computer didn't warn me I was at 20% battery, and Decided to Shutdown at 15% and last it auto saved was when I built the first room of the castle. -__-

there is, try to go to manage worlds or main menu after playing for abit, your game will be saved even if you quit without saving ! lame!

Never seen or encountered this. Strange. I am sorry its causing you problems tho, perhaps there's a mod that can help?
  • Think of your Auto-Save like a separate save file that periodically overwrites itself with newer save information.

When you manually make a save file, that is your own file and Auto-Save won't touch it. Your own save files will only be overwritten if you choose for them to be.

If you make your Manual Save A at 8:00pm and you quit without saving, your Auto-Save might try to bring you back to a point like 8:32pm, which you probably don't want. If that happens, go to the main menu, click "Load Game," and load Manual Save A. That will bring you back to the point you chose to save your game last, regardless of when Auto-Save did its thing last.

Generally speaking, with how this game works, it's not a good idea to rely on Auto-Save in any capacity for making sure you don't lose data. In fact, Auto-Save features in general seem to be pretty useless, in my experience. I'm sure there are edge cases where it's a saving grace, but like @MasonGamer pointed out, it might save at a point way further back than you would have liked it to.

Best practice is to save often and if you're concerned about not being able to go back to Point A, make a save at Point A and then when you save again, make it a fresh save, with a different name. Ex: If Point A Save is called "ToddlerMayhem," you could call the next save for the same game "ToddlerMayhem2," then "ToddlerMayhem3," and so on. Your saves can get cluttered quickly if you do this too much, so you'll want to go in and clean out old versions of saves every so often. But if you're serious about keeping stuff intact, this is probably the best way to do it.

Earlier today I exited without saving just fine. I removed my mods and CC to test a save I'm having issues with without having mods. Played several minutes to fully test, and then exited without saving so that way my sims weren't bald and nekked. Had no problem loading up the game back to where it was (with hair and clothes intact) before I play tested it.

Maybe you accidentally loaded up the auto save file (which isn't what you should be loading up when you play unless you want to load up the backup save it does). That feature has been in game since day 1. It will auto save upon exit.

I, personally, think it's mostly worthless - as far as auto saves go. An auto save should happen in the event of your game crashing. Auto save does nothing for that. It simply will auto save your game upon exit. If you don't exit properly, you don't get an auto save. Seems worthless to me.
  • ^ Yeah, like what the others said there's the autosave feature. Technically, I think they have changed how the autosave file opens. It should not load up by default when you click on that big play button. But just in case, next time when you don't want to save your game, go back to the main menu and hit the floppy disk button at he top right to open your manual save.

If you have forgotten to that again and for some reason it opens the autosave, just exit again without saving and open the manual one. The game will never overwrite the autosave file over your manual save, so you should be okay.
  • Well, I'd rather Auto save. Spent five hours on building, then went in game. About four of my horses foaled and I moved into manage worlds. Crash. My computer is so bad, I would be screwed without this feature.
