Why are y'all so grateful now? What changed? I'll say what changed your expectations changed, they got lower. You call firefighters, ghosts and toddlers player feedback? Those were not player ideas. EA knew exactly that people are going to be mad those features aren't in the base game but simply didn't have time to develop them so they did that after the release date.
They did not listen to "player feedback" to find out we wanted those things. They knew it! They knew those features belonged in the game. They were developing them in the background and when they came out simmers went all like "Aww let's be grateful, they are listening to us." Spoiler alert! They knew those were core features missing and they simply gave it to us, but late. That's no reason to be grateful for imo. I paid 65$ for this game.
Good question. Actually felt the same with the Sims 4, felt like a weak version of the Sims 2. Took me awhile to get into the Sims 3 wasn't until Island Paradise in 2013 I got into the game so near the end of its lifetime. Like I said it was when I got into Gaiaonline then trying to escape the franchise and how I ran into a Maxoid. I didn't join the community until the Sims 4. I remember there was a big outrage over the babies in the Sims 3 too and they were called burrito babies. But yes like I mentioned before, Sims 3 is when the RPG push was really started. World Adventures was super story driven too and places were locked behind quests. I remember when I joined forums it was the norm that people hated the Sims 4 because they loved the Sims 3. I was the exception I guess which the community managers quickly found out and Sims 2 still remains my favorite and then the Sims 1.
