To be honest when I first saw the pack my concern was replay ability. Do I like story packs? Yes and no. If the story pack has more to do in the game after then yes If not the story might be amazing but it’s limited.
This is where our opnions on the pack might change. If you break down the game pack there’s a lot you can do. Let’s pretend this game pack did not come with a storyline. What exactly do we have?
Military career: New work from home career
New cas
New world: decent size and very detailed
Spy? Bug station:
You can use this outside of the story and bug other sims then blackmail them for cash.
Laptops: super useful
Other objects (no new gameplay)
New paranoid trait
New weird plants to plant
We also have the prosessed buff: the buff I haven’t played around with it too much but you can use it outside of strangerville and story. I turned my whole house of sims into possessed sims.
All of these items I’ve listed work outside the story gameplay there might even be more.
When ea was marketing this pack they did so as a story pack. So a lot of people only see the storyline. You pay $20 for a 1 time story but that is incorrect the story is more of a gameplay item. The people who buy the pack are buying it because they see the other items and opportunities. Not because they want to support the developers. Who would pay $20 for 1 3 hour story? There might be some but a majority of the people see that story as a bonus not as the pack as a whole.
Everyone thinks ea is testing these types of packs to see how well they do but in reality the sims have always had its stories behind them they were just never marketed as such. This story is a lot more upfront. If you’ve played sims 1-4 you see the stories in the game. I think ea is trying to find the best marketing strategy to sell there games.
If you don’t like weird plant things, laptops the new world, the military career or spying on your neighbors then this pack isn’t for you. But there is some people who want this stuff added into there game and that is why they buy it.
