Male Sims are notoriously lacklaster in terms of CAS. Seems to be an issue with the series in general. Maybe women's clothing irl has a wider variety. Maybe it's a stereotype that most guys either wear the same stuff or care less about 'fashion'. Maybe more female Sims are made so they get catered to more. I'm not sure what the reason is.
Even when it comes to the new unisex options, most male clothing looks better on female Sims than vice versa (though I imagine part of that is due to body framing issues).
