I've never used them and I always give my townies a makeover when they're dressed in them. Maybe its a fashion fad in California where Maxis is located. I've never seen a man wearing cropped pants where I live. I've had several encounters/conversations with people over the years who were from California and some have commented about how people in my area look so "normal" compared to people in California ("normal" being their word, not mine). Although one was downright rude and calling us names because we don't follow the "fashions" that they do.
That's not to say that everyone in California is a weird dresser, just that there are different fads in different parts of the country/world and this is one I definitely don't like. :)
