Wild Goose Chases and the Hysterically Silly Things We Players Do ...

Just moments ago, I totally cracked myself up, as I realized I had sent my Sim on an impossible mission. I have outfitted their large abode with those automatic vacuum cleaners, one on each floor. The downstairs one was obviously full (despite having been upgraded to clean itself while docked). But, instead of having my Sim 'return to dock', I told him to empty the dust. It was a moment or two before I realized my poor Sim was following the device, until I saw him rounding the staircase and proceed back down the main hall toward the kitchen again. I know I'm tired, but this had me cracking up.

Please share your moments of Player-Malfunction, in which you likely sent your Sim on a wild goose chase.

  • for some reason Karmine Luna didn't want to take book from the book thing in her room and would just keep going to basement bookcase instead so I locked her in her room just so she couldn't go to basement and that seemed to work but it was so silly that I decided to delete the basement bookcase for this one reason

similarily theres this one spot in grandmas room that has no blockage but grandma keeps insisting there is until you click her to walk couple steps off the zone which suddenly isn't blocked and she can again walk everywhere in the house and right past where she was stuck as long as she does not stop and stand in that specific spot its so weird
  • also yup the times I've meant to click gallery and went to manage worlds and the times I've meant to press C but pressed V and only noticed about hour later

and ofcourse my cat giving his input on how I should be playing my sims tapping his paws on the keyboard

and the oh so many times I end up accidentally inferniating things when I was supposed to just click my sim do something with them

My cats have an amazing knack of always taking screenshots when they insist on walking over my laptop keyboard. I am always mixing up the gallery button and manage world button!!
  • I was having my sim Eliza Pancakes as a matter of fact feed an infant in the high chair. She proceeded to feed her rice pudding and it said she was unsure about it, and she kept spitting it out. Well the hunger bar wasn't going up, and I thought maybe it was because she kept spitting it out. So I had Eliza try oatmeal. Again it said that Mariela was unsure and she again seemed to spit out just about every bite, and still the hunger bar remained yellow and didn't go up. So I tried ice cream, and she loved it, and wasn't really spitting it up but the hunger bar wasn't going up. I was about to stuff another jar of food at Mariela when I discovered I wasn't clicked on Mariela, but on Eliza, and she was hungry and that it was her not Mariela that was hungry. "hits forehead". Poor Mariela was stuffed and then stuffed with food due to my mistake. lol But she kept eating even though she had finished three jars of food. Now I wonder how many more jars I could have gotten in her before she refused to eat anymore lol.

I can't tell you how many times I've had clicked on the wrong Sim. and sat there wondering why they weren't heeding the tasks in their queue. Face/palm. That's a Classic. Thanks for my Morning Chuckled, that was great! Poor kid probably ended up stuffed to the gills.

I can't ever remember doing that before, but yeah it was kind of funny, I don't know if Mariela was like enough already and was about to stage a protest by slapping the food away, or if she was like, hey extra food and it so yummy I am not going to say anything keep it coming momma lol.

I've done that too many times to count. I unfortunately even made a bigger mistake in TS3 where I had the wrong sim selected and my sim flirted with his daughter-in-law. Needless to say, his wife and son were not happy.

Everytime I build, I always end up panning to the basement. Also, at least 3 times every build session, I hit the Esc key bringing up the menu. Now that I make YouTube videos, I've really noticed it since I have to edit them out.

This thread has made me realize about 50% of my playtime consists of, as GalacticGal calls them, "Player-Malafunctions." It's a wonder I have made it as far as I have in my alien legacy.

Far from it. It seems we all make the same silly mistakes. It's a wonder I don't have a permanent handprint on my forehead for the many facepalms I've given myself.
