If you wait I am betting someone will mod the ability to remove the traits. To me this is one thing that should have been added into the game and allow users to decide which houses they belonged too. I mean what if you wanted to give this trait to an old mansion in the game? These lot traits would be good for storytelling so why are they locked? It seems illogical.
