I’m going to test this a little in a new save when I get home tonight. But I want to do a homeless challenge and force my sim not to wear the cold or hot clothes to see how much time you get before they die. (You know for science)
What world has the most dramatic winters and cold days in spring and fall? I have a sim in Brindleton Bay already and I’d probably prefer to test out a new world but I just want it to be a challenge.
Edit: okay I tried this challenge and it’s very hard to keep your sim alive. I set up a campsite in forgotten hollow cause I felt it would be a cool winter town. I started right into winter to test this out right away. I put her on an empty lot with a tent, a fire pit a chair, a shower tarp and a toilet bush.
I set her up with all sweatshirts or jackets , pants, and boots for her all her everyday wear and sweats and a long sleeve for PJs and workout wear. The first day the weather was cold. She immediately put her cold weather clothes on and I switched her back to an everyday wear right away. She didn’t change back and didn’t get a cold moodlet or anything right away.
I had her sit by the fire pit for a few hours and no cold moodlet. She stayed in the everyday outfit I changed her into.
I decided to try jogging so sent her for a jog and she changed into her active wear. She was fine through her jog, but once she was done she changed into her cold clothes again. I switched her back to an every day wear and sent her fishing. About an hour into fishing she finally got a chilled moodlet (a -1 uncomfortable moodlet) but she didn’t change into her cold clothes.
I sent her back to her lot and had her sit by her fire pit and cook a fish she caught. She kept the chilled moodlet throughout, the fire pit doesn’t seem to warm her up.
Next I had her shower and the moodlet went away. So a shower will warm them up. She got the moodlet again after her shower though. (the -1 uncomfortable chilled mood)
After that I sent her to her tent to sleep she kept the -1 uncomfortable chilled moodlet through the night.
The next day the temp went to freezing, she got out of her tent and changed into cold clothes. I again being the torteress I am switched her back to everyday wear. She got the cold moodlet right away, I sat her by her fire pit and it didn’t help. Within just a few minutes (maybe not even) I got an alert that she was freezing to death and her skin was blue, the chilled moodlet was now on the top of her moodlet and was now a -99 uncomfortable moodlet, despite having her sit by the fire pit.
I quickly went into build mode and made a small shed like area that I put a fireplace in, after unpausing it I sent her in there to to light that fire and she immediately warmed up.
I sent her back outside and she again went from chilled -1 to chilled -99 and blue within just a few short minutes and I got the notification again that she was about to freeze.
I didn’t let her freeze just yet as I’d like to continue this mean yet interesting challenge for a little longer, but so far I’ve seemed to determine that cold weather doesn’t affect them as fast as freezing weather which is super quick. The fire pit is no good, the fireplace is and the shower is.
I didn’t try to have her run into her tent after she turned blue and I should’ve cause I was curious about that but I wasn’t ready to lose her yet.
I’d also like to try a simple shack no fireplace and when I get the notification see if her simply going inside helps.
This is just a one sim, vanilla game test but if anyone wants me to try anything with her let me know and I’ll do so.
