I agree, though. I don't mind rewarding preorders, but locking content away forever behind an arbitrary timeframe is something I staunchly disagree with. Make it cost a few bucks, but do list it later.
As you've already pointed out, it disadvantages new players the most. Even silly little things like cosmetics sting when you fall in love with a game only to find out later that you have forever missed out because you didn't discover it sooner.
