That stage lasts just three days, so I think it's not that big deal. It might create more bugs than it's worth.
I play with aging off. I tried to play a family with a baby as I thought that's not much to it, baby eats, sleeps, my sims can do their thing. I was wrong. While my sims were off doing their thing the nanny came automatically, I have no idea who she was, and my sims did not developed any bond with the baby because by the time they came home baby's needs were already taken care of. I had to force them to do things like feed, clean, and play with the baby so that they developed a relationship. And then one night the baby cried so much it became unbearable for me as a player so I had to age him up to a toddler. So, I think it would be good idea to free the babies, so sims could take care of them and bond with them naturally, put them in a stroller, a basket, a sling and carry them around where they need to go. Put babies on an activity mat or a swing, take them for a stroll in the fresh air if they cry too much, have them interact with the pets, give them a pacifier or a toy. A lot of improvements could be done to babies to benefit those players that play with aging off.
