- @LSM36 I have spent time around babies, and while in reality you can teach them things, the point at which all your teaching really shows through and comes to fruition is when they hit about 2-3 (the toddler years) and can reciprocate and actively respond to what you're teaching them. Infants don't particularly do much other than need attention until they become mobile and develop communication skills during their toddler stage. So the accuracy of babies in the Sims is pretty spot on, and while it is a mild shame they are glorified items, they don't become interactive people until their toddler years. I mean, you can make faces and make them giggle, and comfort them from crying, but that's about the extent of how you interact with infants.
- LaBlue03147 years agoSeasoned AceAs they are now, I don't play with babies. If my sim has one, they get aged up immediately after birth. As it is now, it feels like I am just playing with a bassinet, no different than playing with those talking toilets. I miss the way babies were done in TS2 and 3. In 2 you could give them a bath in the sink, hand them off to other sims, and in 3 you could take them out when your sims went out. Babies were much more interactive in the past. To me, babies in TS4 took a huge step backward to the past.
- I would like more outfits for babies, and hair, and maybe some baby equipment
- I really wish babies would be updated. I play with aging off and age babies up after 112 days, which is kind of boring with the current babies. I would love more ways for sims to interact with babies and to be able to take them out of the bassinet.
- @Babycakelings, For me, it depends on if it is a part of a free game update or game pack so I'm abstaining from voting.
If it was something they charged us for...I don't care that much. If it was a free update, I'm all for it (though not as a priority). - SeaDragonSong7 years agoSeasoned AceI don't actually hate the baby stage, but I'd definitely want it updated.
- Hermitgirl7 years agoSeasoned AceWhile I think it's something that should be done, personally I know I will rarely play with it. I will enjoy it when they do it but would rather have other things.
If we get it sooner rather than later though I'll be happy for those that really want it in their games, and will definitely give it a look see. - We have a three-year old. We’ve just been through all that and babies are boring. They pretty much lie there screaming and pooping. What more do we need them to do in the game? Newborns (which is what TS4 babies are) do not crawl around. I’m not sure why so many people request that.

@So_money Toddlers can walk....that's where the term "toddler" comes from. Therefore, the stage where all the kid can do is crawl is part of the baby lifestage. That's why so many people request it. Right now, the game just skips that phase of development entirely, so I think it's natural for simmers who LIKE raising children to want more added to the baby stage to account for the pre-toddler development that occurs IRL.
I do agree with you that screaming poop-machines aren't particularly interesting. But then, that fact itself is a good argument in favor of adding more to the lifestage to include the development that occurs between "newborn" and "toddler". It's such a short period of time though (IRL, some babies actually skip the crawling entirely and go straight to walking) I don't see it as all that important so mostly I agree with you."AriaMad2;c-16928449" wrote:
This is the main thing I want in The Sims 4 at the moment. I just think there's so much more they can do with babies other than just having them in the crib the whole time. It's not like we're asking for babies to be able to breathe fire or anything, just more things we can do with babies (just no fire breathing. It'd be so funny but unnecessary).
Yess. People keep saying “oh theyre boring” Exactly!! Thats what we want to change lol. They can be altered to be a little more interactive. I just want them to feel like part of the family. I know they age up after 3 days or something but as somone who plays with aging off idc lol.
