Thank you! It annoyed me so much how the community as a whole assumed that none of these Sims 4 positions would be replaced. We actually have no evidence that any of the Sims 4 employees were "laid off". That was a rumour started by Sims VIP and the Sims Community, which they attributed to still-unnamed "sources". An interpretation of a tweet's tone and the reports of a "former Guru" account on Reddit do not solid evidence make.
Some people do leave of their own accord -- and sometimes people get fired for not doing their job (or for other reasons we won't discuss here). I was laid off from a company over 25 years ago because they were cutting back in preparation for moving the company to another state. I was eligible to be rehired (and ironically the first temp job I had when I signed up with an agency was with my former employer.) The difference between a layoff and a firing is that when you're fired, you have security guards escort you out while you've got your personal items in a cardboard box, while a layoff you get to leave on your own. :|
As for leaving of one's own accord, that happens a lot in the tech industry -- people are often looking for new challenges or a chance to climb the ladder of success, if you feel your path is blocked at one company you might look to another. And anyone can claim to be a "former Guru" on Reddit or other sites, without any proof.
