Unfortunately it seems the era of not plugging in is pretty much gone and eventually all games are going to work like this.

I suppose we can compare this era to what our ancestors went through as their technology grew and they had to deal with the automobiles, the air plane, and all the machinery that came into being. Looking back over countless family diaries and journals people of those eras were known to keep - is often quite humorous at this day and age at how they seemed to think many of these things were anything from works of the devil to doom for all mankind.

In other words - new is always eyed with suspicion and not ever welcomed by traditionalist - although the very fact you play computer games at all is probably a big step.

I highly doubt the world in general will ever find that sweet spot of satisfaction where they will ever be satisfied enough not to keep pushing forward for something better, faster, or possibly even nearly instantaneously.

No matter how much better or satisfied the consumer is - technology will always move and change. We either move with them to get the new - or stick with what we already have. It is just the way things seem to be.

I too love the ability to disconnect at times - but at the same time I can also see the advantage into moving forward too. Unfortunately eventually the old technology no longer gets supported, so eventually we have no choice if we want to keep playing games - to move forward too.
