I feel so sad for them. They have probably worked hard to be on that position.

It is also a fact that Maxis has unusual few open jobs and that other parts of EA have many more. Look at https://www.ea.com/careers/careers-overview/worldwide-studios where Maxis only has 2 open jobs under PC and consoles while Bioware has 33 open jobs and EA Sports has 63 open jobs.
So EA is clearly cutting down on the jobs in Maxis. Not so much that there is any reason to fear that EA will close Maxis though. But it seems to me that EA just doesn’t plan future Sims games to have as big packs as the earlier Sims games had and therefore apparently needs a little fewer devs to make them.
