You're so right.
With the last packs we got so many recycled stuff from previous games. In my opinion it's at least 75% of the games concept and content which is adapted from former The Sims products. It's hard to remember the last "Wow" effect after installing and playing a "new" TS4 pack for the first time. Quite the opposite: For example when news about the island pack leaked for the first time, I told my friends "I bet there will be mermaids" - and behold....
There is hardly anything unique in Sims 4, and so there is also no highlight to remember and to seperate it from the previous Sim releases. Sims 1 was the initial and so of course eveything was new and worth to remember. Sims 2 was a complete overhaul with new graphics and much better looks. Sims 3 with the open world and create a style also was a big step forward. Sims 4.... uhm... I'm afraid, there is nothing, which impressed me so much that I could say, that it's something special to that realease.
After we got back things like toddlers, seasons, vampires, magic and university - now there is hopefully room for something completely new.
