Application Error after New Update (9/26)

Hi, this is my first time posting something since I've never had any problem. Sorry if I'm not formatting correctly. I hadn't played Sims 4 in a couple of months, so before I started playing again, I updated the game. Everything was working fine until the game started freezing on the loading page. I closed down the game and restarted my laptop, but when I opened the game again, it froze and this error message popped up:

"TS4_x64.exe - Application Error: The instruction at 0x000000001E302244 referenced memory at 0x0000000000000028. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program."

I don't know much about laptops, so I try not to mess with the settings or saves. I read in a previous answer with a similar problem that I should post a DxDiag file, so I've attached it. Is there a simple fix for this? I'm panicking because I don't want to lose my game.

  • @denisesvt  A dxdiag is always appreciated.  For now, please remove your Mods folder and any files in ConfigOverride, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  You don't need to save your progress.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I removed the Mods folder and played around for a bit. So far, the game hasn't frozen. Does this mean that I should just check for new updates for my Mods? Should I look through my CCs as well?

@denisesvt  Mods are more likely to be broken than custom content, but either can be a problem, especially after a major update.  I'll move your thread to the Mods forum for further help.  Start with this list of known-broken mods and cc:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/Broken-Obsolete-and-Updated-Sims-4-Mods-1-109-September-18-2024/td-p/14043148

Then if you have more questions, ask here and someone with more mods-related knowledge will assist you.
