Yes, the mods are not showing up in the game anytime I try and add one to my sims game. My game works just fine, the mods just do not show up. I have also turned custom content and script mods on as well and that does not seem to make a difference either. I have 2 mods on there right now and they work just fine and I had no problem getting them added to my game but now I can't get new mods to work.
The newer mods that don't work are they in a folder with a zipper icon by chance? Some smaller ones come even as a plain file no folders, the bigger ones must be extracted if they are in zip format. Just a guess, but I might be right, see if there's a zipper.
