NEW: Policy on Creators Updating Others’ Mods
Below are the timelines I will now roughly be using for announcing when someone has adopted and updated another creator’s mods without the original creator announcing the adoption.
- Creator deleted all mods: No wait time
- Creator announced they were no longer supporting any of their mods: No wait time for broken mods. I recommend that modders still try to contact the original creator.
- Creator announced they were taking a break from modding and the mod was broken: 18 months from the last time the creator was last active, including comments on their posts. Modders should attempt to contact the original creator, including by publicly posting on a mod page.
- Creator announced they were taking a break from modding and the mod was not broken: For updates, 24 months from the last time the creator was last active. Modders should attempt to contact the original creator, including by publicly posting on a mod page.
- Creator did not announce anything: 24 months from the last time the creator was last active. Modders should attempt to contact the original creator, including by publicly posting on a mod page.
Mod adoption will not always be announced right away. Sometimes I’m testing a mod before announcement. Sometimes I’m checking on the original creator’s activity. Sometimes I haven’t got to any of that yet because there’s a very recent patch.
