Broken Build Mode Item Not Working In Live Mode

I had just got the Get to Work pack and my sim is in the detective career. My sim got a case assignment and she then arrested a suspect. The instructions told my sim to interrogate the suspect but when I click on the interrogation table, my sim makes no movement of approaching the table.
