Solved

can’t interact/click on sim

I was having this problem with clicking on my sim, and having my sim interact with other sims. After some searching, I came across a youtube video that solved my problem!

Basically what you do is you go to your mods folder and search “ts4script” in your mods folder, and move out/delete all the files that include that in their name. Once you load the sims again, everything after that should be working fine!

  • @Peewee2021 All this YouTube solution does is delete key files from all your script mods, which means those mods just are broken now and won't try to do anything. It does not address the actual cause. It's also not the best way to delete a mod: If you don't want to have any script mods anymore, then you should be deleting the whole mod, not just one file from it.

A better solution to this problem is to actually fix the cause, which is almost always an outdated mod or a wrongly installed mod. Here's what to do:

    1. Check the pinned Broken/Updated Mods and CC topic in Mod/CC Issues . This covers most mods (18+ mods are the main exclusion). Use the lists in the topic to delete broken mods and update ones with recent available updates. You may still have mods to update, but you'll have saved some testing time later.
    2. Check that your XML Injector and Lot 51 Core Library are the most recent versions. The current versions are listed in Broken/Updated Mods and CC, as a quick reference.
    3. Now go to the websites of the complex gameplay mods you use. Some of those will be script mods, but they won't all be. Some will, instead, have many package files but use something like XML Injector or Lot 51's Core Library. At the website, check that your version is current and check the installation instructions. The most common cause of the symptom here is missing files.
    4. Now test in game. If all is good, you've covered your issues. If not, you can keep going through complex mods to find the ones that need updating or weren't installed right.
    5. If you're still stuck, 50-50 testing may be needed.
