EA does not support mods but they do allow you to play with mods/CC if you so desire. It is up to those that create the mods to update them when there is a patch and it is up to you to update the mods you use. One of the heroes maintain a list of known broken and updated mods to make it easier for you and others to update their mods. Changes in the game are necessary to support a new expansion and at the same time some reported bugs also gets fixed.

@jpkarlsenThat's still an insane list. There are 2-3 posts about all of them, and I couldn't even pick out the ones I have vs. don't have. Like I said, I don't have but 2-3 listed, I think. My eyes are old and reading all for a few mods was overwhelming. They knew about this and I don't remember the date I saw on those hero posts.
Luckily for me, my mod creator put out a fix the day the Rent expansion was released and now another behavior has emerged. I'll play it without the mods to see if it's true, but when the game is stable with the same mods, but EA makes a patch that ruins most of them like that, they are not without culpability. They know people use mods and it's oh so easy to blame users instead of the manufacturer of the game. They allow it like OpenGL, so don't cover their butts please.
I used to write software, so I know what's going on in this industry. Don't get me started, or I'll get put in time-out because y'all can't handle the truth about it. Thanks.
