dowloaded a house from TSR but not show up in library

I downloaded a house from TSR and I opened the folder and there was a whole bunch of package files so I extracted them to the mods folder. But when I got into my game the house was not in my library folder or whatever. So how do you get houses you download from other sites like TSR other sites or forums to show up in your game? I can get clothing, makeup, hair stuff like that to show up just fine.

  • I didn't know that the houses went in a separate folder than all the other stuff did.
  • they do.

just looked at a lot at TSR:

To install the lot in game: unzip the file, copy files into Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/ Tray.
You will find the lot in your library.

  • Make sure you put only the files into the tray folder, minus the folder they were in originally. You have to check the custom content box to see the lot in-game. I'm assuming it has custom content.
  • I have been putting only the files into the folder, and I'm pretty sure since I've been using custom content that I must have the box checked. I'll open the game and check though.

@bohemianangel Sorry, I'd only read the original post, which I just realized was from last year. Yeah, I forgot that the new patch no longer requires you to check that box each time. If your game is fully patched, you no longer have to check the box repeatedly.

One thing I did notice in the OP, was that he mentioned that they were package files. I don't know if this pertains to you also, but they could have accidentally downloaded a Sims 3 house because Sims 4 houses should not be in package format. The files should be .blueprint, .trayitem and .bpi" files. If there are any .package files included, they are usually custom content included with the house and should go into the "Mods" folder.

If you're still having trouble, post or IM me the link to the house and I'll confirm whether or not it works.
