Editing mods folder with Sims 4 still open?

Anyone know if it's safe to edit your mods folder while sims is open? I've done this on accident on more than one occasion and haven't noticed anything negative. Of course, I saved and quit (or just quit if it was on the main menu) as soon as I noticed, but I'm curious about it. Would it be safe for me to move stuff in and out of my mods folder while Sims 4 is open and on the main menu? Would the changes show or would the game not notice? It would be sorta convenient for me if this was totally safe because it takes 4 minutes for my game to load to the main menu and sometimes I get a tiny bit impatient, especially when I'm opening and closing it over and over to test my cc in cas.

    I don't think it does any harm, though I wouldn't do it deliberately. And of course the game won't pick up a new file while it's running. I think you do right to close the game as soon as you know you've done it, to be on the safe side. Though personally I wouldn't save under those circumstances - depending how important that particular savegame is.
