Game broken since recent update and pack

Hi everyone! I play on my windows laptop, and only have MC command center as a mod. I updated my game and bought the new royalty pack yesterday. Things were loading super slowly but once I got into a household, things played normally. After playing for about 10-15 minutes, my game suddenly stops working. Time stops moving, and all sims become idle. They sit there and make noises/move their heads, and I am unable to pause/speed up time, or click on anything/any sim. I try to do windows keys+alt4 and it lets me save and exit but then it just gets stuck on the saving screen as the sims also continue to sit idle in the back with noises and head movements. I have repaired the game, and restarted it many times and I have no idea what to do :(
