Hi @Bluebellflora! I wanted to circle back and give you an update on where i am with this. So before you suggested starting the testing process on a brand new clean save, I had already reset my Sims 4 folder and began testing the game on my current save file. I was able to reproduce the crashing. I tested it without mods (in fact I had removed my entire Mods folder), and that seemed to work without crashing, so I started adding my mods back batch by batch. I FINALLY discovered the cc that was causing the crashing! These pesky little things:
NotEgain_Chalkboard_Cupcake_Menus_Simlish_1
NotEgain_Chalkboard_Cupcake_Menus_Simlish_2
NotEgain_Chalkboard_Cupcake_Menus_Simlish_3
NotEgain_Chalkboard_Cupcake_Menus_Simlish_4
Good grief! So I removed them from my mods folder and my game finally played without crashing... until it crashed again haha but this time was for a totally unrelated reason (it threw an LE), and when I went back into the game, the crashing didn't happen again.
So I took that LE to the Deaderpool discord, and someone was able to give me some insight. My game has been very laggy since the last update, and I'm sure that's due to the size of my Mods folder. I have to finally come to terms that it is probably just way too big for what the Sims 4 game can handle. Apparently I have several script and package files that seem to be modifying the same part of the game's code, and with too many files trying to access the game's code, it could lead to a crash. I think this is exactly right, I made the mistake of downloading things because they sounded good, and didn't pay attention to how they would overlap each other in performance. As long as the creator said they were compatible with other mods or had no known conflicts, I downloaded it.
So I'm going to take some time to declutter my save file and try to clean the slate a bit and keep it SIMPLE. Apologies for the ramble, but I recognize you have been helping me throughout this journey so I felt I owed you a follow up. Thanks again, and enjoy your weekend!
