Game not pausing or forwarding

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.100.147.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play live mode for about 30 seconds.
What happens when the bug occurs? The pause button no longer pauses the game, but sims continue to move around the world as usual. You are then unable to interact with any sims/objects. When trying to fast forward, the game continues to run as if on the normal time setting. The game then freezes when trying to close and requires a forced restart.
What do you expect to see? I expect the pause button to pause and the fast forward button to fast forward.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Try the following

• Close the game
• Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
• Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry
• Start a new save game
• Check if you still have the error
• Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

I am experiencing this, too.  The game is literally unplayable.  

I have all DLC, play on Mac.  I can confirm this is not a mod issue.  I also tried clearing cache and repairing game.  

I wasn't sure if it was a patch issue, because the issue didn't start until this week which was a few weeks after the most recent patch.  I patched immediately.  

I play daily (or I used to — this is forcing me to quit my Simming habit).

The last thing I'm trying is a new save, maybe it has just corrupted all my existing save files.
