Glitches
My game is glitching a bit. When I do an actress gig and complete the gig it asks if I want to stay on the lot or go home. I clicked go home and the screen just went black but I could see some icons ...
@mschantel1 Hi! It's probably best to just move your Mods folder temporarily to test the game without any mods at all. Then, delete the localthumbcache.package file located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder before opening the game for testing. A new fresh Mods folder will be generated when you open the game again. You may also want to run a game repair before opening the game. Allow the repair to run for all packs and let it completely finish, even if you get a prompt that the game is ready to play. Do you still experience the glitches without any mods at all?
Last time, I tried my game without any mods, I didn't have the glitch issue. I'm going to try these steps you suggested right now though. Thank you. Hopefully, it helps and I can figure out the mod that's causing it.
@mschantel1 Oh! Okay. If you have no issues without mods, then you definitely want to test those mods. If you only have a few, just try testing one or two at a time in the game. Be sure to delete that cache file after testing and opening the game again. If you have a lot of mods, click the spoiler below to see the steps I use to test them. It can be a little tedious but it will be worth it to fix your game.
1. Create a new game for testing so that your current save is left unchanged until you've identified the problem mods/CC.
2. Create some folders on your desktop; perhaps one labeled "Tested Safe Mods-CC", another labeled "Mods-CC Needs Testing" and one more labeled "Broken Mods-CC" so you know which ones to check for updates. This will keep tested mods/CC separated.
3. Exit the game if you haven't already, and divide your mods/CC in half; put one half in the Needs Testing folder and put/keep the other half into the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Mods folder.
4. Delete the localthumbcache.package file, located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder before opening the game with the half you're testing,
5. If the game works with that half, exit the game, move that half to the Safe Mods-CC folder and move the remaining "Needs Testing" mods back to the Mods folder to test (Again, delete that cache file before opening the game.)
6. Once you know which half is causing the issue, divide those in half, keeping one half in the "Needs Testing" folder and one half in your Mods folder, and test again (delete the cache file each time after moving mods/CC and before opening the game) and moving mods/CC not causing problems into the Safe folder.
7. Repeat this process until you find all that are broken.
Once you've identified the broken ones, you may want to see if there are updated versions. If the most recent version still breaks the game, then you could contact the creator but I suggest playing without it. Good luck!
