Help with navigating Mod and CC forum and searching mods for updates.

I am not sure where to post this but I have tried many times to search mods or cc on the website to see if it was mentioned in an older post I missed or different forum (I don't know if that's what you call it). I am never able to search any of the mods or cc individually on this site.  I know this an EA problem but is there something I may not know about to navigate this site in a more user friendly way for those with limitations like myself? For one, the forum itself is confusing for me to navigate at times. I have tried countless times to bookmark the page and since patches change it never works out. I can't figure out if every link is a completely different link or if all the different topics are listed underneath or if they are their own comments. Honestly, it's just really confusing for me and I tried to message EA support and couldn't get their stupid help chat center thing to work in the first place. I don't understand why we can't just search by creator or mod but only in the forum and not the entire EA site. Is there an easier way to navigate these links so I can actually understand how to follow them? I tried subscribing and that resulted in way too many emails that I had to deactivate not once but twice. I can't go through 20 pages to find old news with my chronic wrist and neck pain. The constant motion of my wrist will only aggravate it even more. Since I can't figure out how to navigate this forum I use discord for updates and Scarlett's site. I want to use this one too since it covers many mods and cc never mentioned in the other two. Can someone help me find an easier way to find what I am looking for if the search option isn't effective and Ctrl F can only go so far. In the future, would it be possible to list this information in a different format or even on discord or even Reddit? I end up opening several of the links some go back to others and I am just so confused how it works.

  • Luthienrishing's thread is the best place to go as it's all in one place. She has lists of the CC creators so you don't have to look through all the posts. If you subscribe to the thread, it helps. (outdated thread removed. Please look up Luthienrising to find the most recent one.)

I, too, find the new way that they've set up this forum to be annoying to the point of being useless. The old forum worked much better than this one. I miss the way it used to be set up.

This doesn't really give any information that is helpful. That link is also old. I don't understand how forums work especially on this site. Is each link a completely new page or is it listed as comments only under the thread? Where can I find this link of cc creators? I only find the posts of several updates which again is too much to scroll through.

  • plur2hardstyle  If you want to know about which specific mods might be broken after a patch, you'll want luthienrising's current broken mods list, whatever it is.  She creates a new list after each patch, so the link will change.  But what you can do is load her profile page and click Newest Topics, like this:

    Member: luthienrising | EA Forums

Then look for the thread called "Broken and Updated Sims 4 Mods and CC: [patch number] [date]" with whatever patch and date are most recent.  It should always be at or near the top of the list since she creates a new one after each patch and leaves the older ones locked.

Once you're there, scroll down to the bottom of the page so the thread starts to load; otherwise, it will only display the original post.  Use ctrl-F to search for keywords, for example a mod or creator name.  If you don't find anything, go to the end of the page and click Show More to load the next ten replies and search those too, then click Show More again and load the next ten, etc.

This way, you don't have to read the entire thread, or really any of it that isn't relevant to you.

By the way, the thread that KatAnubis linked is old in that it was originally posted a while ago, but luth keeps that thread up-to-date as well.

Mod & CC Issues: START HERE isn't old. It's regularly updated. The post date on the label is from when it first was posted. I update it with new links as needed. This is common on Forums info posts! You'll find it a lot in Bug Reports and Technical Support as well -- we keep posts we started a long time ago up-to-date with current info.

Mod/CC Issues master post is also regularly updated, though I add new issues links only in batches, usually around major issues or patches. But it's a good place to start if you're wondering what the most likely cause of, say, that broken Build/Buy UI is. It's also where you'll find links to earlier Broken/Updated Mods & CC lists, enough to take you back to the last big patch, which can be helpful for some players.

Previously Broken mods and CC is regularly updated and has the most recent edit date in the top post. For anything broken after the that date, see the current Broken/Updated Mods list.

The Broken & Updated Mods & CC list -- the one that starts fresh with each patch because you need to pay fresh attention to mods with each patch -- is designed to be used in different ways depending on how often you check.

    1. If you're catching up for the most recent patch, you can sort by Oldest and scroll through the compiled lists to find what to delete, what to update, and what's fine to keep (cleared as compatible). The lists are sorted by creator, which was decided upon in collaboration with Simmers as their preferred order.

When you find something you need to update, you can use your search engine to get the update. I list which websites you'll find the updated version on. I don't link because many creators post on multiple sites, it saves a lot of time for me -- this is volunteer time, and a lot of it -- and there's nothing stopping you from finding the content using copy-paste and a search engine.

CC and Mods are in separate list sections for a couple of reasons: One, some players use much more of one than another and can pick a list to check.  Two, some players use a non-Forums option for checking for mod update news, but those options don't cover CC, so it's helpful for them to have a separate section they can look at here.

    2. If you're catching up after just a few days, you can sort by Newest and just go back a bit in time through the about-daily update posts. Everything in those posts is also in the compiled lists.

    3. If you like staying caught up every day, you can "follow" the thread and set your notifications settings to receive email updates. You'll get the whole about-daily update post sent directly to you.

To find you own posts, start in your profile at the top right.

If what you need is to be able to look up individual mods to find out if they're broken or have an update, the Forums as a whole are not designed in a way that makes that work. You'll need to use non-Forums options. I can't refer you to those directly from here because all cover 18+ mods and some link to them directly. Every one of the options has its pluses and minuses. All require you to some of the work needed to keep your mods up to date. They're also all organized differently - some only feed daily news; some are searchable but won't give you a quick catch-up list. Different people prefer different options. If the list format used here doesn't suit you, you may need to do some searching for other options.

Yes, the link changes with each major patch. I went back to my old thread and updated it to remove the link and suggest going to Luthienrising's listing.
