If you are using any mods, try moving your mods folder to your desktop and start the game.

I probably should have said a bit more. Chances are that you have an older mod that is blocking the new world. By moving the mods folder out of the game temporarily and starting the game, you'll find out if it is a mod or the game that is the problem as the new world will either be there or not.
If the new world still doesn't show up with the mods folder out of the game, then the only things you can do is to repair the game or do a full reinstall.
I suspect it is a mod though. So, once you've figured out that it is a mod, you'll have to go through your mods to find the one causing the problem and either update it or remove it.
