Infinite Loading 'View CC' & Missing CAS items (94GB)

Game Version: 1.122.218.1030 Platform: PC / EA App (Unlinked from OneDrive) Mods/CC: 94GB (Primarily Alpha CC, 1-2 folders deep)

The Issue: Since the March 23rd hotfix (.218), the "View Custom Content" list in Game Options enters an infinite loading loop. In CAS, the catalog appears empty (only ~8 items show) even though the scroll bar is long.

Steps Taken (None of which worked):

Deleted localthumbcache.package and resource.cfg multiple times.

Repaired the game via EA App.

Reset the user folder/generated a new Sims 4 folder.

Forced -dx9 launch.

Verified no subfolders are more than 2 levels deep (except for Objects).

The Criticism: This is an indexing timeout. Prior to the Marketplace updates, this library loaded perfectly. The new verification service is failing to "crawl" large libraries, stalling the UI and leaving the catalog empty. I have attached my DxDiag.

Edit By crinrict: Adjusted Title, removed some unrelated thread tags

No, I do not use any mod managers, installers, or third-party tools (like TSR Manager) to download or manage my content. I manually browse for every mod and CC item myself, download the files directly, and place them into my Mods folder by hand. My file structure is kept simple (no more than 1-2 folders deep), and I am using raw .package files. This confirms that the indexing failure I’m seeing is happening directly between the game engine and the clean files I’ve placed there.

JenjenlnFoley When you were moving files, were they ever moved off your drive, onto an external drive? Just trying to find something that might differentiate your setup from others, as most people have their games working again after the March 23 update.

luthienrising, to answer your question: No, I am not using an external hard drive. All my files have stayed on my internal drive in the regular Mods folder or my Downloads folder. To keep my testing clean, I have my original folder renamed as 'The Sims 4 - M.' Every time I run a test, I let the game create a brand-new 'The Sims 4' folder, and then I rename it afterward so I don't lose my results. That is why I have several folders in my directory.

My 'Sims 4 - T1' is just a copy of my original files. 'Sims 4 - T2' was where I tested an 'Adult Bottoms' subfolder with 51 items. 'Sims 4 - T3' was a subfolder named 'Bottoms' where I used ONLY a freshly downloaded version of Drake’s pants, which worked.

Yesterday, for 'Sims 4 - T4,' I started with a completely fresh game folder and created a new subfolder in the Mods folder named March2026Test (no spaces or underscores). I copied the old file for Drake's pants from my -M folder and pasted it in there with 24 other random files. Then for 'Sims 4 - T5,' I created another fresh folder and put another random 25 loose files including Drake's pants directly in the Mods folder—again, I just copied and pasted the old file for the pants from my -M folder. I also have a 'Sims 4 - V' folder for my vanilla game with only core mods like MCCC and UI Cheats.

In both of those tests yesterday, the old version of the pants stayed invisible. The only success I’ve had was in my T3 test where I used the freshly downloaded version of those same pants and Willow's pants. This confirms that even in a 100% brand-new game folder, the update is ignoring my existing files but recognizing new downloads instantly.

JenjenlnFoley It really does sound like something on your particular system or workflow caused a file issue at some point. I don't see a solution other than redownloading. This isn't something we're getting widespread reports of.

    Thank you luthienrising.

Each time you've replied back you've given me ideas on what to try next.

After reading your reply yesterday I went to my onedrive where I had (thankfully) a zipped back up of my cc from February 2025.

I started yet again another new sims 4 folder and had the pants from the zip in there... ALL 133 files showed up.

I hadn't moved my mods folder out before the last patch because I was playing offline. But on the 23rd the app forced the update on me...

I'm still testing the other cc but yeah... Seems my cc clothes were a casualty... Take care and again thank you. :)

JenjenlnFoley Oh good! I'm glad you had a backup. I really don't know why for a small group of people some kind of issue has stuck with the CC files, but so far it's been remediable with new files, at least.

    Thank you, luthienrising!

Having that backup was a lifesaver. It’s a slow process weeding through 94GB, but verifying that the 'fresh' files show up while the 'affected' ones stay invisible has finally given me a path forward. I'm focusing on my core family files now. Take care!

You too! I wish we knew what caused this for the few of you who couldn't just put CC back and go!

Weirdly enough, It looks as though it was only the adult apparel that was affected. So far all of the kids, toddlers, and infant CC is there. i'm pretty sure the objects are as well and I haven't noticed any hair missing. It's very strange. Who knows maybe S4S will have a batch fix for some of this stuff. :) Again thank you immensely. I appreciate your help. My legacy story that I record and write for was at stake and I got panicky LOL Take care
