Interaction Tuning

Hi, guys. I'm modding for the first time, so I apologize in advance for all the stupid questions I'm probably going to ask.

I was wondering - if I make a change to interaction tuning within an object package, is that tuning local to that object? It's not going to affect the interaction globally, is it?
  • What you describe has been made more than a year ago: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=545512

Feel free to take it apart and roll your own, of course. How resources need to be named is described in the Maxis guide. This kind of thing is a tad more complex than just cloning some interactions though -- if you are new to TS4 modding you might want to start with something more straightforward.
  • That depends on whether you make it an override, or a custom interaction that is only available on that object. The latter will not affect the rest of the game, but the former will.

What package you put it in is irrelevant, by the way (unless you put together your own setup with load priorities etc, in which case you'd know what the implications are).
  • I see. So if I want to avoid an override, I'd need to give it a new value, I'm assuming? (The Maxis content creation guide seems largely targeted towards people who made TS3 mods, so I'm kind of flying blind here.)

(Btw, thanks for your mods on MTS. I'm really enjoying them.)
  • I mean, I'd have to give the interaction a new ID? What I'm specifically trying to do is create a notebook that has the mesh and animations from the homework and use the writing interactions from the computer (and as I'm saying this, I realize that it might be a lot easier to just find the similar mod that was made for TS3... but wth - I could use the learning experience).
  • Thanks for the link! Yeah... I'm always trying to be too ambitious.
